U13B AMERICA WIN CHAMPIONSHIP
IN SONOMA COUNTY

Capping off a beautiful weekend at Sonoma State University, Sac United’s U-13 America boys captured the championship of the 2007 Sonoma County Classic. The weekend started Saturday morning with a 0-0 draw against the Real San Francisco Destroyers club. In the afternoon, America fell behind the Livermore Road Runners 2-0 late in the second frame. The comeback started with a header goal by Freddie Hunter over the keeper’s outstretched arms and was capped off by blazing left-footed cross into the back of the net by Brendan Watts with no time on the clock to salvage a 2-2 tie. Sunday morning began with an 8 a.m. test vs. De Anza Black. America garnered a 3-1 victory with goals by Matt Rutledge, Ryan Nevis and Freddie Hunter sending them into the final. In the deciding match Freddie Hunter capped a great scoring weekend with two more strikes, Brendan Watts put another into the back of the net and Carlos Chavez also scored to close out a 4-1 victory in the final over the Tracy Gladiators late Sunday afternoon. Many thanks to coach Jason Drury for leading the boys all weekend and to the ever supportive America parents and family for rooting on the boys to the title. Congratulations America!
