David Rubio draws upon a USSF National “D” coaching license, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and years of CCSL all-star play. Embarking upon his 30th year with Sac United as a player and coach, the steady McClatchy High School alumni will mentor the U17G Extreme and U19B Reds. As a player, Rubio often served as team captain, reflecting his belief in inspiring teammates to be their best, and to do whatever it takes for the team to be successful. Rubio values the opportunity to teach players to read the game and solve problems presented by moments in a game. Applying that philosophy both as a youth soccer coach and as a manager in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, Rubio said, “At the end of the day, I try to create an environment that motivates others to succeed and improve every day.”
