Sac United's America
Team Wins US Club National Cup X Seattle US Club
Regional Tournament in June
July
11, 2011 - In a display of grit and
determination that reflects well on the
Sac United Club, our own America
traveled nearly 800 miles last month and
won the US Club National Cup X U16B
Super Group Regional in Seattle. With
injuries and summer commitments the boys
only had 13 players available, so three
players from the Reds team (coming off
their own Regional victory in Modesto)
made the trek to the Northwest.
Unfortunately, an obscure and unfair US
Club rule prevented the boys - Kaba
Alkebulan, Cameron Spencer and Andrew
Gosselin - from playing in the
tournament. Despite this setback the
Reds boys participated in all team
events including joining 36,000
passionate soccer fans at a Seattle
Sounders MLS soccer match.

Suntan
Classic 2010 is another Sac United Success!
On August 7-8, 2010, over
100 teams converged on
Sacramento
to compete in the 2010 Suntan Classic.
Parents, players and coaches were treated
to beautiful weather and excellent competitive
soccer games throughout the 14 different age and
skill groups.
Sacramento United continued its
traditionally strong showing with its U14, U15
and U16 boys teams bringing home championships
in their respective Premier divisions.
The Sacramento United girls teams were
also well represented, U15 & U12 Extreme teams
placing third, and the U13 Extreme finishing
second, missing the championship by 2 points.
Sacramento United’s
Tournament Director, Teresa Liston-Crain, was
responsible for organizing this year’s
tournament.
Teresa and her army of parent volunteers
once again put on “the best run tournament in Northern California”, as noted in the numerous
post-tournament compliments.
Thanks to Teresa and to
everyone who volunteered to make this tournament
another huge success for the Club!

Club Philosophy
Reflected by 2010 World Cup Final
By
Andrew Ziemer & Russell Cunningham
For some only a game, but to the rest football
is an art. In places like Holland and Spain, the
2010 World Cup finalists, audiences demand to be
entertained by dominating attractive ball
possession soccer. Sac United Technical Director
Shawn Blakeman noted, “Good football is the
winner of this year’s World Cup. In the final,
we will be treated by players with high skill
level, great insight, and the ability to
interchange roles and positions on the fly.”

Thank You Sac
United Storm 88/89
The Sacramento United Storm girls team from
88/89 recently donated $1500 to the Sacramento
United scholarship fund. Sac United wants to
publicly say "thank you" to this former team for
remembering their club and supporting young up
and coming players in Sacramento United. If any
other alumni or friends of the club would like
to make a donation to our scholarship fund even
a small amount makes a big difference to a
player that is having problems funding their
soccer. Please contact
Russ Cunningham or
Larry Wong if you are able to make a
donation. |

Many
175 youth soccer teams, U9 – U11, competed on

Fest Director Teresa Liston-Crain estimated that

it the biggest of its kind in Northern
California, drawing on the year-long efforts of
the directors and their dedicated volunteers.
Liston-Crain expressed special thanks to fellow
tournament organizers, Kevin Dollison (Director
of Tournaments), Mike Rosales (U14G, U10G, U9G
and Academy), Letty Rosales (Registrar), Linda
Cardenas (U9B), Amber Nesbit (U9B), Vickie Ramos
