Program
Information
Sacramento United is the
competitive soccer club affiliated with the Sacramento Youth Soccer
League (SYSL) which represents youth soccer throughout a large
portion of the City of Sacramento and nearby areas. As recreational
youth players progress in the game of soccer, some of them begin to
excel. Through their natural athletic abilities and enthusiasm for
the game, they begin to stand out as players who would enjoy and
benefit from a more competitive environment. The purpose of
Sacramento United is to provide that environment by assembling these
outstanding young players into teams that will compete against
similarly organized teams from other towns and regions. This high
level of training and competition against other quality teams
enables young players to reach their highest potential. Tryouts are
held each year to select the players to join the Sacramento United
teams.
Our
Mission
The mission of Sacramento United
is to develop quality soccer players and teams that are
competitive on a regional and statewide level. In carrying out its
mission, Sacramento United coaches and representatives will
continually strive to improve our image as a club, to attract and
retain quality players, and to develop quality soccer players by
continuously improving the quality of training, coaching,
equipment, officiating, and playing fields.
Our Goals
The goals of our training and
coaching programs are to build character and instill positive
values in our players through hard work, responsibility, mutual
respect, and teamwork. We also seek to instill in our players a
lifelong love and understanding of the beautiful game of soccer.
To achieve these goals, Sacramento United provides a club-wide
training and coaching program whereby all players and teams learn
from all the coaches in common training sessions and training
camps. The coaches work in close coordination with each other to
deliver a shared philosophy of the game and the systems to play
it. We encourage and support our coaches to obtain higher levels
of training and licensing, to develop relations with the
recreational clubs where most young players first learn soccer,
and to foster player and parental involvement in the planning,
organization, and administration of the program. We conduct major
fundraising activities to supplement the fees charged to the
players in the program.
We ensure that players have the best coaching available. All
Sacramento United coaches are approved by our Board of Directors.
Every coach, including assistants, must be licensed. We currently
have many coaches with national licenses issued by the United
States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America.
Our Support for Our
Players
We endeavor in many ways to make
sure all qualified players are able to participate in Sacramento
United Soccer, regardless of their economic situations. We have a
scholarship program that provides both financial assistance and
uniforms for deserving players in special need. Sacramento United
conducts club-wide fundraising activities to provide a substantial
portion of the club’s income and provide funding for our
scholarship program. Parents are expected to assist with these
activities; after contributing the required number of volunteer
hours, the volunteer deposit made at the time of registration will
be refunded later in the season.
In addition, teams, individual families, and players are
encouraged to do their own fundraising. Some teams have been
successful in raising most or all of their fees for the season
through fundraising. Successful fundraising activities include car
washes, yard sales, selling ads to the club’s tournament programs,
and soliciting team sponsors.
