Sacramento, CA | May 3, 2022 Sacramento United SC (SUSC) is proud to announce that our club has been selected to participate in MLS NEXT. MLS NEXT is the elite club league organized and directed by Major League Soccer (MLS) for the purpose of developing the NEXT generation of elite players. In order to be selected, SUSC went through an evaluation process based on the implementation of a defined soccer philosophy, quality of coaching staff, record of elite player production, and professionalism of daily environment.
SUSC is excited to become the only non-professional youth club in the Sacramento region to offer MLS Next for U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U19 boys.
The MLS NEXT development platform was created by Major League Soccer in collaboration with the top elite youth academies around the country promising to set new standards for world-class player development in North America. MLS NEXT will offer SUSC players the highest level of competition and a development pathway designed to take our players to the MLS and USMNT.
“Sacramento United is beyond excited and proud to be accepted into MLS Next. Being a part of the best player development experience and pathway in the country will be an immense benefit to our players and community. We are humbled that our history and our continued commitment to holistic player development has been acknowledged and recognized to be in line with the goals and vision of Major League Soccer’s professional development platform. Sac United can’t wait to offer our boys teams access to the top competitions, coaching, and development environment in the nation. This will allow more of the Central Valley’s most talented, motivated, and disciplined players to showcase their abilities and have legitimate access to professional opportunities.”
