Thank you for volunteering with Sacramento United! Our tournaments would not be possible without the help and dedication of our volunteers. Below is an overview of common volunteer roles and responsibilities to ensure our events run smoothly.
During the events, please report and sign in at our volunteer tent, where our five designated club administrators will be waiting to assist you. Angelica Mejia, our Volunteer Coordinator, along with Athena Mejia and Beto Regalado will be in charge of assigning tasks based on the immediate needs.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to sign out when your shift ends. Your cooperation in this matter ensures that your volunteer hours are properly recorded.
We’d like to express our gratitude to the following team members for their crucial roles in making our event a success:
– Brookes Hewell, our Equipment Manager, who ensures that everything is in place for our activities.
– Zabi Jamal, Danny Saucedo, and Alan Rodriguez, our Event Support Staff, who play a vital role in coordinating various tasks and assisting volunteers.
Once again, thank you for your exceptional efforts and flexibility. Your support is invaluable, and we are honored to have you as part of our team. Together, we’ll make all our events memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities:
Money Collectors – Your main responsibility is to ensure the correct people are charged for event parking, including all attendees except for ALL COACHES (non and Sac United), Sac United Board Members, Referees, and Vendors. Comfortable shoes are a must as you’ll be standing for your entire shift, handling money, and issuing parking tickets. Additionally, you’ll be providing directions to designated parking areas.
Directing Traffic – You’ll be directing cars to their designated parking areas and helping pedestrians cross the street into the park. You’ll also need to move cones for authorized vehicles and know field numbers for giving directions. Your role includes keeping handicap parking areas clear of unauthorized vehicles, and it requires you to be on your feet throughout your shift.
Trash / Clean-up – You’ll be responsible for picking up trash throughout the park, replacing liners on overflowing trash cans, and emptying trash into the main bin. Additionally, you may be asked to restock bathrooms with toilet paper. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25lbs, as trash bags can get heavy.
Field Set-up and Breakdown – This hands-on role involves breaking down and setting up goals and other equipment such as field signs, corner flags, canopy’s, tables, and chairs. You’ll need to follow instructions and be capable of lifting and moving up to 50lbs. Expect to be on your feet and active for the entire shift.
Team Check-in / Field Marshall – This role involves ensuring all teams are checked in promptly, verifying player passes, and confirming roster details. As a Field Marshall, you’ll collect game cards from each referee and hold them at the check-in table until an admin collects them. You’ll also distribute game cards to referees before each kick-off, so comfortable tennis shoes are recommended due to the amount of walking back and forth.
