SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (Friday, May 17, 2024) – Sacramento United is proud to announce its participation as a founding member in Cal North’s groundbreaking X2 platform.
Set to launch in fall 2024, the Cal North X2 platform represents a significant advancement in youth soccer development in Northern California. Exclusively for existing MLS NEXT clubs, this initiative aims to enhance the player development pathway, mirroring the highest standards and expectations of North American soccer.
“We are thrilled to be part of the Cal North X2 platform,” said Albert Regalado, Sacramento United’s President. “This opportunity allows us to collaborate with other top-tier clubs in the region, providing our players with the highest level of competition and development. Our participation reaffirms our commitment to nurturing elite talent in Sacramento.”
The Cal North X2 platform will feature a club vs. club format, designed to optimize resources and eliminate coaching conflicts, thereby enhancing player movement and development. Over 80 teams, spanning ages U11 to U19, will participate in this new and exciting league.
“Joining the Cal North X2 platform aligns perfectly with our mission to develop well-rounded individuals and elite soccer players,” added the President. “We are excited to work alongside other founding clubs to elevate the game in Northern California.”
Sacramento United looks forward to the inaugural season and the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the Cal North X2 platform. We extend our gratitude to Marley Wilson, Cal North Executive Director, and all the stakeholders involved in making this platform a reality.
