This collaboration marks an exciting step forward in expanding the club’s reach and providing more opportunities for high-level competition, particularly within the Afghan and Middle Eastern soccer communities in Sacramento.
Speen Ghar FC, established in 2020, has quickly made a name for itself by competing in top Afghan-American tournaments across the United States, including the AASA NJ Tournament and the OCNA Cup in Las Vegas, where they reached the semifinals in 2024. The team is composed largely of Sacramento United alumni, making this partnership a natural fit for both clubs.
Sacramento United’s Technical Director, Reymond Harris, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating:
“We believe this collaboration with Speen Ghar FC is a significant step in strengthening our ties with Sacramento’s diverse soccer community. Many of Speen Ghar’s players have come through Sac United and gone on to compete at a high level in major tournaments across the country. Partnering in the UPSL gives these players and future prospects a clear opportunity to develop and compete beyond their youth careers.”
